The planet Lazerian IV was home to the Crystal Valley, where Empeth Crystals, a variety of Force-amplifying crystals, were found. These cube-shaped crystals, which appeared only once per decade (years), were almost unbreakable after being harvested. If a Force-sensitive wore one, it granted the ability to sense the Force in other living beings. However, after being picked, the crystals only retained their special properties for five years before reverting to ordinary stone. During the initial period of the New Republic, King [Alarik X], the planet's sovereign, safeguarded the crystals by assigning a contingent of the King's Own Guard to protect them.
