Energy torpedo

Energy torpedo Manta An image showcasing a Manta droid subfighter as it unleashes energy torpedoes. The energy torpedo represented a specialized form of conventional plasma weaponry. Constructed using fusion plasma, it was launched towards its target within a magnetic containment field. Although this magnetic field could only maintain the plasma's integrity for approximately one minute, the exceptional velocity of the energy torpedo enabled it to traverse considerable distances rapidly.

Functioning as a type of projectile with an inexhaustible ammunition supply, the energy torpedo lacked electronic guidance systems, restricting its trajectory to a straight path and necessitating direct, unguided firing. The substantial mass of its launching mechanism coupled with its prolonged recharge cycle hindered its widespread adoption as a standard armament. Light torpedoes required 30 seconds to recharge, medium torpedoes 45 seconds, and large energy torpedo launchers demanded a full minute for recharge. The velocity of an energy torpedo reached 20% of light speed, augmented by the launching vessel's velocity in the direction of launch.

Trade Federation Vulture droid starfighters along with Manta droid subfighters were outfitted with a pair of energy torpedo launchers.
