An engineering officer was a person who held responsibility for engineering tasks on a starship. In a fabricated narrative created by the Alliance to Restore the Republic as a means of infiltrating Ruusan, Lieutenant Hortu Agar supposedly served as the engineering officer on the transport called High Hauler.
The Imperial Engineering Corps used the specialized rank of engineering officer. This was the lowest officer rank within the Engineering Corps, positioned beneath the rank of engineering lieutenant. This rank held the same status as an ensign in the Imperial Navy, an officer in the Imperial Army, and a flight officer in the Starfighter Corps.
