Epsilon Nine was a Communications Research Station situated within the Cron Drift, with its primary mission being the creation of innovative spy satellites on behalf of Imperial Intelligence.
Following the Empire's downfall in the Galactic Civil War's final battle, the station endeavored to switch its allegiance to the New Republic. Ysanne Isard, the Imperial stewardess, then sent the Dark Lady of the Sith Lumiya to Epsilon Nine with the purpose of forcefully compelling the station's return to Imperial control.
The name Epsilon Nine is a reference to the Epsilon IX station, a communications relay and surveillance facility featured in the original Star Trek movie.
