The Evasive-13 individual field disruptor was an individual field disruptor created by Aeramaxis Technologies. It functioned by generating energy signatures that could momentarily interrupt defensive energy fields, which served to neutralize existing shield technologies.
The Evasive-13's construction involved a fifteen centimeter-long housing that contained a control computer, a power cell, and a pair of projection shells, each holding a disruption bubble unit. When the twin shells were moved away from the power cell, the disruption units became active, producing a compact energy shield that surrounded the user.
The strength and duration of the disruption bubble could be adjusted based on the specific field the user intended to breach. When set to its lowest level, the Evasive-13 could penetrate weak energy barriers and maintain continuous operation for over an hour. Conversely, at its highest setting, it could bypass most military-grade fields, but this would deplete the power cell in under four minutes.
Beyond its capability to negate energy fields, the Evasive-13 could also be employed in close combat; any individual who came into contact with a disruption field at full intensity would suffer a severe and potentially lethal energy discharge.
The Evasive-13 initially appeared during the era of the Galactic Empire, utilizing state-of-the-art technology and carrying a purchase price of 25,000 credits. Around the time of the Battle of Yavin, more advanced disruptors were introduced, which caused the Evasive-13 to become a mid-tier device, available to paramilitary organizations at a more accessible cost of 11,000 credits. One such organization deployed Evasive-13 units to infiltrate the fortress of Dr. Evazan on Ando with the intention of assassinating him, but their attempt failed, and they were killed by Evazan and his associate Ponda Baba.
A more potent iteration of the Evasive-13, known as the Evasive-226-R field disruptor, was adopted by the Empire's Storm commandos, as well as the Page's Commandos within the New Republic.
