Exchange (tactic)

The exchange maneuver represented a fundamental strategy in naval combat. It involved two lines of warships, arrayed against each other, sailing in opposing courses while unleashing their full broadside weaponry. Typically, in such an exchange, the starships that possessed superior deflector shields combined with more potent armaments were more likely to prevail.
