Fambaa

Fambaas, amphibians characterized by their quadrupedal locomotion and resilient skin, inhabited the planets of Naboo and Onderon. These creatures possessed a cartilaginous tail, robust joints in their pillar-shaped limbs enabling them to bear substantial weight, and expansive feet featuring splayed toes to enhance balance and prevent submersion in marshy terrains. It was the belief of biologists that Naboo merchants were responsible for transporting both the fambaas and the falumpasets to Onderon initially, yet concrete fossil evidence supporting this theory remained scarce.

Gungans utilized fambaas as carriers for deflector shield generators, securing the equipment with a saddle and leather strap around the fambaa's body, and employing a bridle for navigational control. In a fight that occurred on the Great Grass Plains, fambaas outfitted with shield generators were strategically positioned alongside kaadu and falumpasets to provide reinforcement to the Gungan Grand Army.

Behind the scenes

The initial artistic renderings of the fambaa portrayed them as bipedal, dinosaur-esque beings. The four-legged configuration was subsequently greenlit, leading concept artist Terryl Whitlatch to manually illustrate its gait cycle, demonstrating the animals' movement patterns to the animators at Industrial Light & Magic.
