The initial mention of the Farfalla system occurred in The Essential Atlas, a reference work from 2009 by Daniel Wallace and [Jason Fry]. This book situated it within grid square P-12. Fry has indicated that the star systems detailed in the book's Appendix are named after the most significant planets or celestial entities found within those respective systems. Additionally, he has definitively verified that he envisioned the Farfalla system as containing a planet also called Farfalla, intended as the homeworld for the half-Bothan species.
