Fear Virus

title: Fear Virus

During the Clone Wars, the Fear Virus was engineered by the Separatists. Being a rather uncomplicated virus, it was susceptible to most antiviral agents, including those present in the bio-scrubbers of a starship, and also to the vacuum of space. It existed in two forms: a solid, slime-like substance, and an airborne variant. The airborne form required an hour to take effect on exposed individuals, during which time they could resist its influence, with its effects intensifying each passing hour. Conversely, the slime-like form affected anyone who made physical contact with it immediately.

This virus targeted the brain, inducing hallucinations rooted in the most disturbing aspects of the victim's psyche. These hallucinations posed a significant threat because they essentially hypnotized the victims, causing them to completely believe in any fantastical being from their imagination or past. Consequently, any harm inflicted by these imaginary creatures would manifest as real physical injuries, typically in the form of blisters, cuts, and bruises. However, the antidote resided within the victim's subconscious; childish methods such as squirt guns, whipped-cream pies, strange gestures, and other nonsensical actions that children use to repel imaginary monsters proved effective against these illusions.

The virus was exclusively contained within a bulk freighter that had been adrift in space for more than a century before its discovery. Over this extended period, the ship had deteriorated into a burned-out derelict with breaches in its hull through the bridge and engineering areas. Furthermore, the ship's bio-scrubbers had been malfunctioning for over 75 years prior to its rediscovery. Despite this, a team boarded the ship and, after facing attacks from both the virus and the droids onboard, successfully escaped, decontaminated the entire vessel, and claimed it as their own.
