Fifth Fleet

Above Coruscant, the vessels of the Open Circle Armada engage with the Separatist Fleet. Under the Open Circle Fleet banner existed the Fifth Fleet of the Open Circle Fleet, which was one of the smaller Republic sector fleets. As the Clone Wars drew to a close, the Fifth Fleet, acting as a vanguard, rapidly returned from the Outer Rim Sieges in order to defend Coruscant against the unexpected assault by the Separatists'.

A substantial number, numbering in the thousands, of the incoming vessels consisted of Venator-class Star Destroyers. The warships belonging to the Fifth Fleet displayed the well-known symbol of the armada, along with five distinctive red lines extending down their dorsal wings, as a means of identification.

Whether this was the same Republic Navy Fifth Fleet, previously active in the Cularin area and under the command of Ai-Ari Kuldi, remains uncertain.
