During her scouting mission on the way to Niango, one of these birds took to the skies in front of Jedi Knight Aayla Secura. This flying animal captured Aayla Secura's attention, rendering her incapable of defending herself when Commander Bly and his troops commenced firing, killing her in accordance with Order 66.

Since the CGI representation of this creature was created by utilizing the existing peko peko representation from Episode I, and filling it with the same blue material found inside the body of a gelagrub, Star Wars Insider refers to this species by the name "gummy peko peko," although this is likely only a production name and not necessarily its actual name within the Star Wars universe.
