Nebit held the position of Chief among the Jawa. As the primary negotiator for his tribe, he also served as a leader, orchestrating attacks against opposing tribes.
Nebit's group made their living capturing droids for trade, and their sandcrawler was filled with a large collection of different models when they were carrying C-3PO and R2-D2, who were running from the Empire. The droid counterparts were then sold by his tribe to Owen Lars, the uncle of Luke Skywalker, who would eventually become a Jedi Knight and a hero of the Rebel Alliance. During negotiations with Lars, Nebit switched to a specific Jawa "business dialect".
Later, Imperial sandtroopers destroyed Nebit's sandcrawler after C-3PO and R2-D2 were tracked to their location. The majority of Nebit's tribe was killed during this attack, including Nebit himself.
