Firrerreo genocide

The Firrereo extermination, orchestrated by the Galactic Empire, saw Hethrir, the Procurator of Justice, initiate the complete annihilation of all life on Firrerre, specifically targeting the sentient Firrerreo population.

Historical Context

Firrerre, a far-flung planet located within the Outer Rim Territories, existed in isolation from the Core Worlds, the epicenter of Galactic political power. During the zenith of Palpatine's Galactic Empire, two Force-sensitive Firrerreos, Hethrir and his partner Rillao, became apprentices under the tutelage of the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Hethrir's unwavering devotion earned him the appointment as Procurator of Justice, while Rillao, despite her teacher's darkness, remained aligned with the light, a fact seemingly unnoticed or disregarded by Vader.

In his capacity as Procurator, Hethrir engaged in the practice of condemning worlds deemed "treasonous" to the Empire. He accomplished this by placing their inhabitants into suspended animation aboard slow-moving "passenger freighters", effectively transforming them into makeshift colony ships destined for resettlement on remote planets beyond the galaxy's edge. As a demonstration of his allegiance to the Humanocentric Imperial regime, Hethrir sentenced his own home planet and the majority of his people to their demise. It remains unclear whether the Firrerreo populace or their governing body had voiced any opposition to Imperial policies.

Detailed Account

In the years leading up to the Battle of Yavin, thousands of adult Firrerreos were forcibly taken and confined within passenger freighters, while millions were left behind on Firrerre. While imprisoned on the departing ships, these Firrerreos were forced to witness the Emperor Palpatine's elite Starcrash Brigade unleash a deadly strain of hive virus, resulting in the extinction of all life forms on the planet within a matter of days. This virulent plague consumed its victims from within, inflicting immense pain and suffering upon those infected. To prevent the virus from spreading beyond Firrerre, the Empire enforced a strict quarantine on the planet.

Subsequent Events

The surviving Firrereos, numbering a few thousand, were maintained in suspended animation aboard the passenger freighters. These vessels embarked on a protracted journey at sublight speeds to establish new colonies on worlds located beyond the galactic rim, although the precise motives behind this endeavor remain ambiguous. Hethrir harbored the belief that both he and the Empire would endure for a millennium. After this time, he intended to return to the freighters and awaken the prisoners from their slumber, anticipating that they would recognize him as an omnipotent deity deserving of their unwavering obedience.

Following the Galactic Empire's defeat at the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Hethrir was stripped of his position as Procurator of Justice due to the decline of Imperial power and prestige. He subsequently dedicated himself to locating all of the passenger freighters he had dispatched into deep space. After having them towed to a secret location, Hethrir would periodically visit these freighters to select captive children for enslavement or indoctrination into the ranks of his Empire Reborn.

Repulsed by her husband's actions, Rillao fled with her unborn child Tigris to an undisclosed location. However, the Procurator eventually located her, imprisoning her within a torture web aboard one of his freighters. Hethrir seized Tigris with the intention of grooming him as the heir to his Empire Reborn, but his plans were thwarted. Darth Vader, upon recruiting Hethrir and Rillao, had hoped that the couple would produce an offspring strong in the Force. Unfortunately, the boy possessed no Force abilities, relegating him to the role of a servant to his father, completely unaware of his parentage and the atrocities he had committed.

In 14 ABY, Leia Organa Solo, the Chief of State of the New Republic, discovered Hethrir's freighters and their "living cargo" while searching for her three children, who had been abducted by Hethrir during a diplomatic conference on Munto Codru. Upon boarding the nearest freighter, she quickly realized that all the prisoners were Firrerreo. She successfully liberated Rillao from her years of torment, and the two departed the freighter aboard Leia's personal yacht Alderaan. During the rescue, they also freed another Firrerreo, who chose to remain behind despite the freighter's decades-long journey to another world at sublight speeds, declaring that he would not abandon his people.
