Fleet Commander

During both the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War, Fleet Commanders played a crucial role in any space campaign, acting as the central coordinators for all space-based forces under their direction.

These commanders, selected from the most elite recruits across the galaxy, received their training at various Imperial military academies situated within the Core Worlds. Alternatively, in the case of the Rebellion, they either received training at Imperial academies before defecting, or they rose through the ranks from other backgrounds.

Typically, they commanded from their own flagship, which often represented the most formidable warship within their assigned fleet. Due to their strategic importance, Fleet Commanders frequently became targets for enemy assassins and bounty hunters.

For example, during the Rebel assault on Kamino, Touler held the position of Imperial fleet commander. Similarly, during the Battle of Endor, Gherant served as the Fleet Commander aboard the Super Star Destroyer Executor, overseeing the vast Imperial fleet tasked with guarding the second Death Star.

Behind the scenes

In Star Wars: Empire at War, Fleet Commanders enhanced the hit points and vision radius of allied ships in their vicinity, and could also detect stealthed units. This effect could be interpreted as the commander's presence boosting the morale of the surrounding forces.
