Floater (creature)

Floaters was a general classification encompassing various animal species that inhabited the atmospheres of both Bespin and Yavin Prime.

Bespin floaters. The floaters found on Bespin were a form of zooplankton, subsisting on algae. One of these species, at least, could also be located within the jungles of Kashyyyk. Certain types bore a resemblance to arthropods, while others looked like flying fish.

The twelve distinct floater species indigenous to Yavin Prime were enormous creatures, more akin to the beldons of Bespin. Being gas-filled organisms, ten of these species were plant-eaters, and served as food for the remaining two species (referred to as "floater sharks" and "floater squid"), which were carnivores.
