Flux capacitor connectors, utilized within hyperdrives, were essential parts. Hyperdrives were mechanisms that gave starships the capability of entering hyperspace for rapid transit throughout the galaxy. Should flux capacitor connectors fail while traversing hyperspace, they had the potential to cause a hyperdrive malfunction, resulting in a starship's sudden and uncontrolled return to realspace. In an incident occurring sometime between 4 ABY and 27 ABY, a band of explorers traveling to the mining outpost of Lohopa II for a spice smuggling endeavor discovered themselves stranded in realspace when the flux capacitor connectors on their vessel broke. Ultimately, the crew managed to conduct the necessary repairs, enabling them to proceed with their voyage.
The mini-adventure "The Package," featured flux capacitor connectors. This adventure was included in West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game supplement, Twin Stars of Kira, which was released in 1993. This component's designation is the same as the flux capacitor from the Back to the Future franchise.
