Galactic community

The expression "galactic community" is a term that may denote one of two things:

• The entirety of individuals spread across the galaxy.
• A set of common beliefs and standards held by the key participants in a galactic arrangement.

As technological advancements occurred and new systems and societies were found, the galactic community expanded. The Infinite Empire could be seen as the initial form of a galactic community. As time progressed, more entities either integrated with or started engaging with the developing Galactic Republic.

Species, civilizations, and places that were secluded or yet to be found were excluded from the broader galactic community. To illustrate, the Sith Empire and the Republic were mutually ignorant of their respective existences until the Great Hyperspace War, followed by the Empire's subsequent collapse.

Regions of the galaxy that remained outside the bounds of the larger galactic community were known as the Unknown Regions.
