The emblem representing the Senate of the Galactic Republic was known as the Galactic Great Seal. Sometimes, the individual seals representing the Thousand Worlds encircled the Great Seal. The most noticeable Great Seal was located on the Chancellor's Podium within the Senate Rotunda.
During the Invasion of Naboo in 32 BBY, Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum possessed a Ceremonial Staff which featured the Galactic Great Seal as its cap. As renovations were underway, the Republic Group orchestrated a theft of the seal from the Chancellor's Podium. Their motivation was to eventually restore the honor of the Republic. Unbeknownst to them, the seal they acquired was a forgery; the authentic seal had been lost to history many years prior.
