Creatures called Garollian ghost vipers originated from a specific place inside the Garollia system found within the Baroli sector of the Expansion Region's. These creatures, known as ghost vipers, possessed rapidly moving tongues. During the Separatist attack on the planet Coruscant in 19 BBY, Count Dooku was engaged in a lightsaber duel with Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi; Dooku likened Kenobi's lightsaber attacks to the swift motions of a ghost viper's tongue in his mind.
The novelization of the film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, penned by Matthew Stover, made the initial reference to the Garollian ghost viper in 2005.
