Gingal, a Mon Calamari, held the position of Watch Commander for the New Republic stationed at the Xyquine base. Serving as the superior officer to Pash Cracken, he stood ready to command a withdrawal from Xyquine upon the Imperial assault; however, Cracken's swift reversal of this order proved crucial in rescuing the majority of the fleet. The action subsequently became known as the Cracken Twist.
