Glorii Profus, a male Kaminoan who was aligned with the Galactic Republic, functioned as a mentop—a role blending psychiatric and spiritual guidance—for the Grand Army of the Republic's clone troopers. As the troopers prepared to engage in the Clone Wars, Profus delivered a traditional, ceremonial address to them.
A male Kaminoan named Glorii Profus, loyal to the Galactic Republic, participated in the indoctrination of the Grand Army of the Republic. These soldiers were cloned from the DNA of bounty hunter Jango Fett on the planet Kamino. Profus's function was that of a mentop—a position that combined the roles of a psychiatric expert and a spiritual counselor—to numerous clone troopers, notably including Advanced Recon Commando Alpha-98's cohort. He instructed the clone troopers to overcome any fear of death. Furthermore, Profus would give a ritualistic speech to troopers before they left to fight in the Clone Wars, and he would toast them with a cup of the finest Tallian wine in the quadrant. Many clones found solace in his words before heading into combat, and Alpha-98 held Profus's teachings in high regard.
Profus, a Kaminoan with silver skin, possessed a long and elegantly curved neck. His voice was refined and soothing as he addressed the clone troopers, telling them that their bodies would nourish the stars after they died. Profus emphasized to the troopers that their greatest honor was to serve the Republic and to meet their end with dignity.
The Cestus Deception, a 2004 novel penned by Steven Barnes, featured a brief mention of Glorii Profus. In 2008, The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia dedicated an entry to Profus. This entry referred to him as a "mentor," differing from the "mentop" spelling used in The Cestus Deception. However, the encyclopedia also contained a separate entry specifically defining "mentop."
