Greg Rucka is the creator of novels for young readers and comic books. He is a writer for the contemporary Star Wars canon, and in the past, he was a comic-book author at DC Comics.
In 2015, Rucka contributed to the junior novel Smuggler's Run and the comic miniseries Shattered Empire, both of which are components of the Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens publishing initiative. Smuggler's Run portrays Han Solo and Chewbacca in the time period soon after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. Shattered Empire details the events taking place not long after Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. Furthermore, Rucka was involved in the 2015 junior novel Before the Awakening, which recounts the experiences of Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron preceding their adventures in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.
Rucka is recognized for original works like the Atticus Kodiak and Jad Bell novel series, the Oni Press comics Whiteout and Queen & Country, along with the Image Comics series Lazarus. He has authored Detective Comics, Superman and Wonder Woman for DC Comics, and was given the task of reintroducing an updated version of Batwoman into the DC Universe with artist JH Williams. This work earned them a GLAAD award. He is an author whose books have topped the New York Times bestseller list, and he has been honored with multiple Eisner awards, the highest distinction in the comics industry.
