Grudakk

The Grudakk was a massive sentient humanoid being that resided on Endor's Forest Moon. Its role was to protect the Father Tree, which was the forest's largest tree. Each hand it possessed was comparable in size to a young Ewok, its black eyes were as big as an Ewok's head, and its legs could easily be mistaken for tree trunks by an unsuspecting individual. The Grudakk's body was covered with dense, lengthy fur. This being dwelled within a sprawling, subterranean dwelling that had been excavated from beneath the Father Tree. The torchlit corridors, stone-crafted furniture, and straw bedding of its lair demonstrated its intelligence. It crafted pouches and other items utilizing vines.

Serving as the guardian of the Father Tree, the Grudakk was a strong ally to the Ewoks. Conversely, the Yuzzums and Duloks held the creature in both hatred and fear. When the Ewok Teebo fled Bright Tree Village in search of his sister, Malani, the Grudakk rescued him from a group of Yuzzum warriors. Teebo was then taken back to the Grudakk's lair, where he was fed and provided with a place to rest. Teebo, fearing that the Grudakk intended to keep him as a pet, made his escape the following day. He was tracked by the Grudakk to a conflict between the Bright Tree Ewoks and a Dulok contingent led by King Vulgarr. The Grudakk ensured the Ewoks' triumph by seizing Vulgarr and causing the remaining Duloks to flee in terror.

Behind the scenes

The Grudakk made its debut in The Adventures of Teebo: A Tale of Magic and Suspense, penned by Joe Johnston and published in 1984. The original source material spells the creature's name as "Grudakk," although The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia later presented an alternative spelling: "Grundakk."
