The GX1 short hauler, alternatively known as the short hauler or the Lantillian deluxe short hauler, represented a starship design manufactured by Lantillian ShipWrights.

The GX1 was recognized as a resilient and expertly crafted spacecraft. Initially conceived as a luxury vessel, it incorporated several features designed to enhance the owner's comfort, including a well-appointed kitchen, a holotheater, and spacious living areas. For protection, the standard configuration included a civilian-grade turbolaser cannon and limited defensive shields. However, these defenses frequently proved insufficient against assaults by pirates and other aggressors, leading many owners to upgrade them swiftly.
The GX1 could be readily transformed from a luxury craft into a cargo transporter by eliminating most of the "luxury" amenities. Its robust construction and dependability made it a suitable option for transporting goods, and numerous smuggler captains modified them to function as smuggling ships.
One particularly notorious weakness involved its landing gear, which was exceptionally intricate and required extensive maintenance. Impurities like dust and corrosion could easily obstruct its mechanisms, preventing proper retraction or deployment.
The GX1's original marketing efforts targeted wealthy retirees seeking to traverse the starlanes in a well-equipped and comfortable vessel without incurring the high expenses associated with larger star yachts.
The Lantillies-based team of design engineers, headed by Project Engineer Shil Tervo, aimed to develop a model that would rival the more sought-after designs from the Corellian Engineering Corporation that were in great demand at the time. While they did not achieve success in that regard, they inadvertently succeeded in creating one of the earliest luxury pleasure crafts that was within the financial means of the average consumer.

In 22 BBY, the company was compelled to recall all GX1s with serial prefixes ranging from TRE-0034 to TRE-5215 due to defective electronics. Shil Tervo issued an apology and disclosed that thousands of GX1s had left the production line with malfunctioning Fabritech 7Y4 sensor suites, although Fabritech representatives asserted that Lantillian's mismanagement had caused the hardware failures. To remedy this situation, Lantillian permitted owners to bring their starships to any Lantillian Spacers' Brotherhood guild location to have their electronics upgraded at no cost.
The Ithorian Captain Ixsthmus piloted a modified GX1 known as Long Shot for the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. Another remarkable modified GX1 was the Nova Whisper, a vessel that had accumulated a lengthy history of ownership changes over the years.

A group of Rebels came across the Desolate in Otherspace while flying a short hauler.
