In the time leading up to the concluding conflict of the New Sith Wars, which occurred on the world of Ruusan in 1000 BBY, the Dark Lord of the Sith Skere Kaan tried to control the thoughts of his Sith Lord peer, Darth Bane; Bane likened Kaan's attempts to a knife scratching against the hide plates of an ice-boar.
