Harridan (planet)

Harridan, a planet situated on the edge of Imperial territory, functioned initially as a penal settlement. Even after full colonization, it remained a magnet for both the galaxy's Rebels and other unsavory characters from across the galaxy. These factions successfully established a society characterized by minimal regulations, where resourcefulness and boldness were highly valued attributes. The world itself featured rugged, stony hills, shadowy woodlands, and stormy oceans. While Humans formed the majority of the inhabitants, a diverse array of alien species also thrived there, some of which were rarely encountered elsewhere. The planet's urban centers typically consisted of disorganized clusters of structures constructed from various materials like wood, stone, plastisteel, and formex, with Spaceport City serving as its capital. Nearly all commercial activity on the planet was conducted by small, fiercely independent companies, many of which operated just within the boundaries of Harridan's limited legal framework. Population densities in all the cities were exceptionally high, evident in the constant congestion of the streets, which were perpetually bustling with activity. Public displays of weaponry were common, but as was true across the galaxy, indiscriminate use of weapons or the open carrying of large weapons and heavy armor in public areas was still likely to attract unwanted scrutiny. Harridan's substantial police force readily administered their own form of street justice.
