Hathrox III, located within the Hathrox system, was once a planet covered in cities and buildings, a so-called urban planet. Around 1196 BBY, a biochemical civil war led to the total destruction of its civilization. Following this catastrophe, the New Republic placed the planet under quarantine. Every single effort made by scouts to investigate the planet resulted in their deaths, along with the demise of both the rescue teams sent to retrieve them and the quarantine personnel who followed.
