Heal was a type of magic, specifically a Ta-Ree spell, that could be used by Ascendants who lived on the world of Kathol. This spell gave the user the ability to accelerate the recovery of someone else, but only if they were touching them. To be able to cast heal, Ascendants needed to have already learned the lessen another's pain spell.
