The Hearst, a Corellian Class VI bulk freighter, served as the mobile headquarters for Freedom Galactic News during the Galactic Civil War, having been commissioned approximately in 70 BBY.
Subsequent to its extended service as a cargo transport, the Hearst underwent alterations near the time of the Battle of Endor to function as the nomadic hub for an autonomous news service, broadcasting from the Outer Rim. In this evolved capacity, the ship's weathered and aged hull belied a contemporary and vibrant interior.
Despite its antiquated engines lacking the necessary output for operating the transmission array during movement, the recording facility was equipped with cutting-edge production technology, and the primary computer housed an extensive news repository. The central hangar was a repository of valuable salvage and discarded items, while the living quarters for both the crew and news personnel were tastefully furnished, featuring a communal kitchen and lounge area, alongside ten passenger compartments, each equipped with private bathrooms.
The Hearst is featured solely in an edition of the French role-playing publication Casus Belli, even though another Class VI freighter made an appearance shortly thereafter in Heir to the Empire 3.
