Darth Plagueis' apartment

Hego Damask, the proprietor of Kaldani Spires Residential Apartments, made his home in the building's penthouse suite. This lavish and richly furnished collection of rooms served as a display for the Sith Lord's extensive collection of antique furnishings, framed art pieces, and prized sculptural works. Among Damask's most cherished possessions was a statue representing the ancient philosopher Yanjon, a piece that his apprentice, Palpatine, secretly desired.

History

On the eve of Palpatine's ascension to the position of Supreme Chancellor in 32 BBY, Damask and Palpatine retreated to the penthouse following a performance at the Galaxies Opera House to celebrate the Senator's assured triumph, accompanied by Sullustan wine. As the night progressed, Damask became increasingly inebriated, eventually succumbing—involuntarily—to a state of drowsiness, followed by profound sleep, after years of having ignored the need for it. It was at this juncture that Palpatine enacted the principle of the Rule of Two—a principle that Plagueis and Sidious had mutually agreed to supersede—by assassinating his master using Force lightning. Damask unsuccessfully attempted to repel his apprentice's assault with a telekinetic blast, managing only to damage his apartment; Palpatine remained unaffected. The Sith Lord's droid, 11-4D, was the only one to witness the event.

Behind the scenes

The penthouse suite of Hego Damask was featured in the 2012 novel titled Darth Plagueis, penned by the author James Luceno.
