Heklu
Heklu were a type of species from the planet of Riileb located within the Riileb system in Hutt Space; they were amphibious and lacked sentience. The meat of this species was prized as a delicacy across numerous Core Worlds, and the transportation of heklu was virtually the only incentive for merchants to travel to the creatures' homeworld.
Behind the scenes
The initial mention of the heklu occurred in the thirteenth edition of the Star Wars Adventure Journal, a part of the Star Wars roleplaying game series. This issue was released in 1997 by West End Games. The species appeared in an article called "Alien Encounters," penned by Brian Smithson. A shorter version of this article was later included in Alien Encounters, a compilation of all "Alien Encounters" articles, assembled by Paul Sudlow in 1998.
