Holo-remotes employed highly advanced and convincing holograms for training in self-defense. The process of making a holo-remote work involved establishing a network of computer sensors inside a room; this allowed the computer in charge of the holoprojector to monitor the user's actions and replicate believable hit detection for the projected hologram. While the outcome was a lifelike representation of an opponent, the hologram itself was incapable of physically harming the user.
