HoloNet transceiver

The HoloNet transceiver, also known as a holopod, functioned as a holoprojector for communications. The hologram projection pod was a specific variant manufactured by the SoroSuub Corporation.

Design

This device, circular in shape, had a diameter of three meters. At its center was a hologram pod containing the primary holoprojector. Arranged around the central projector's perimeter were scanning and projection panels, capable of generating images several meters tall. A control panel, cooling vents, and a field limiter were situated on the pod's side. The SoroSuub projection pod, like all HoloNet transceivers, possessed the capability to receive and decode HoloNet transmissions transmitted via S-thread channels from any location within the galaxy. The widespread adoption of the HoloNet ensured that the projection pod's effective range encompassed the entire galactic disc.

History and usage

Imperial Star Destroyers commonly had SoroSuub projection pods installed on their bridges. One was also present within the holoprojection chamber aboard the Executor during the Galactic Civil War. Vader utilized this device to communicate with Emperor Palpatine, providing updates on the war's progression. During the Virgillian Civil War, the Virgillian Free Alignment installed a HoloNet transceiver within the Quasar Fire-class bulk cruiser Flurry, acquired through the capture of an Imperial ship. This was deemed unusual by the Navy commander of the Imperial fleet stationed at Bakura, who surmised it had likely been stolen.
