Hush-About AJP-400

The Hush-About Personal Jetpack, or the Hush-About AJP-400, represented a personal jetpack model. It was produced by Arakyd Aerodynes, Inc..

Description

The Hush-About AJP-400 from Arakyd Aerodynes, Inc. was a jetpack characterized by its lightweight build and streamlined design. It was powered by a solitary jet engine. The device was secured to the user's back via shoulder straps, complemented by a waist belt. Operation of the jetpack was facilitated by an armature situated on its right side, designed for hand-based control.

A Hush-About, when fully fueled, could store a maximum of ten charges. Each individual charge enabled the jetpack to ascend up to 200 meters vertically or traverse 500 meters horizontally. Functionality also included the possibility of continuous charge operation.

The Hush-About AJP-400 had a price ranging from 1,800 to 3,750 credits. Recharging each power pack and refilling the coolant incurred an additional cost of 150 credits. A specialized portable carrying case for the jetpack was available for purchase at 150 credits.

The jetpack was engineered for near-silence, employing Sound bafflers alongside auditory dampeners to minimize operational noise. Detecting the unit's sound output proved challenging for auditory pickups.

History

The Hush-About AJP-400 was conceived for use in urban settings where standard rocket and jetpack usage was restricted by noise regulations. While intended for civilian applications, the Hush-About saw utilization by operatives opposing the Galactic Empire during clandestine espionage and sabotage activities. The Galactic Empire itself also made use of the AJP-400s around 0 ABY.
