A hyperbaric medical chamber functioned as a healing device, specifically used for the recovery of severely burned tissue. This device took the form of a sealed capsule filled with super-oxygenated air. The Dark Lord of the Sith, namely Darth Vader, possessed a personal hyperbaric chamber that allowed him to breathe unaided, however this was only possible for short durations. A second, similar chamber was located at Bast Castle which was situated on Vjun.
