ILKO represented one of the primary encryption methods utilized by the Galactic Empire for data transmission. This system facilitated communication between the Imperial Center and the initial Death Star construction site located at Despayre.
It took a complete Alliance team a full month to decipher this encryption. In contrast, Zakarisz Ghent, a slicer in the employ of Talon Karrde, managed to crack the same code independently in a two-month period, achieving this feat at the young age of twelve.
The designation ILKO was derived from the name of Ilko Deminar, who served as the director of the Cryptanalysis Department within the Senate Bureau of Intelligence during the initial years of the Clone Wars.
