The Imperial-class, also referred to as the Imperial-series repulsortank, represented a series of armored fighting vehicles manufactured by Ubrikkian Industries. This tank family consisted of three distinct models: a light, a medium, and a heavy version. The classification of each tank was determined by the quantity of weaponry it possessed, despite all three Imperial-class tanks being built on the same base chassis. The heavy variant of the Imperial repulsortank was the most common version produced.
As the most economical iteration of the Imperial-class repulsortank, the 1-L model lacked the primary weapon featured on its heavier counterparts. It could be operated by a minimal crew of two—a driver and a gunner—and provided space for either the sergeant or the platoon sergeant major. Its armament consisted of a single Mark 3/S Medium Blaster Cannon from Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc..

Production of the medium Imperial repulsortank was limited, and it was intended for use by platoon commanders to oversee their forces in combat. It required a crew of three—a driver, a gunner, and a commanding lieutenant—and offered sufficient space for the sergeant major as well as communications equipment. The 1-M was armed with both a Merr-Sonn Mark 3/S Medium Blaster Cannon and a heavy repeating blaster.

The heavy Imperial repulsortank saw the widest production run within the Imperial-class series, and it required a crew of four: a driver, two gunners, and the commanding sergeant. Functionally considered a squad-level asset within the organizational structure, the 1-H was equipped with a Mark 4e/S Heavy Laser Cannon from Merr-Sonn and a Mark 3/S Medium Blaster Cannon. Of the initial 1,500 units manufactured, 1,420 were assigned to the first Death Star, with the remaining eighty allocated to the Imperial Hammers Elite Armor Unit.
