The throne room, situated within the Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center on the planet Coruscant, functioned as the official public station for the Galactic Emperor starting from the Galactic Empire's inception in 19 BBY at the close of the Clone Wars. This throne room was only a temporary location until the formal residence at the newly designated Imperial Palace was ready. Once the Palace was complete, Emperor Palpatine vacated the throne room and relocated to his permanent residence.
Following Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's Declaration of a New Order, the newly appointed Galactic Emperor Palpatine shifted his base of operations to the nearby Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center, a clandestine facility located at the apex of the Coruscant Medical tower.
During his initial year as the galactic leader, the Emperor actively utilized the throne room for meetings with members of the Imperial Senate and his Imperial Ruling Council. However, the use of this facility was intended to be short-lived. Palpatine had already initiated the construction of his new throne room within the vicinity of the Imperial Palace, and upon its completion, he would establish his permanent residence there.
The Emperor's throne room, constructed beneath the Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center within the upper echelons of the Coruscant Medical tower, presented as a long and constrained chamber. It bore a resemblance to the holding office situated below the Grand Convocation Chamber in the Senate Rotunda. A broad yet shallow polished staircase divided the room into two distinct levels. The elevated dais featured expansive permaplas windows stretching across its length. Two members of the Emperor's Royal Guards would stand guard at the base of the staircase. Behind the Guard posts was a table designated for Palpatine's meetings with his Imperial Advisors, and behind that table was his large mechanized throne that was connected to the building's communications and computer systems.
Because his former offices were in ruins within the Republic Executive Building, Palpatine directed the removal of the majority of his Sith statuary and artwork, transferring it to his newly established throne room. Bronzium statues representing the Four Sages of Dwartii flanked the door and windows, while the Massassi frieze, which depicted the events of the Great Hyperspace War, adorned the walls. Directly above the throne room, within the restricted Reconstruction Center, resided the Dark Lord of the Sith's private meditation chamber and repositories of knowledge concerning the dark side of the Force.
