Infiltration was a division operating under the Bureau of Operations of Imperial Intelligence. Following their preliminary education and brainwashing—a process involving Mnemiotic drugs—Infiltration operatives were allocated to serve with Intelligence, sector divisions, or Sedition. Subsequent to the completion of their assignment, they underwent evaluation to ascertain their optimal infiltration deployment. Double agents functioned as active personnel, tasked with actively participating in adversary operations. The agent's objective was to furnish Imperial Intelligence with data capable of inflicting more substantial harm upon its adversaries than the harm inflicted by the agent upon the Empire. Moles represented operatives positioned within enemy territory, entrusted with conveying vital intelligence pertaining to enemy activities. The final deployment was termed a "polwocz," drawing its name from a creature indigenous to the Spinward sector. Polwocz offspring would lie dormant beneath the surface for extended periods, until the larvae emerged and initiated a catastrophic feeding frenzy, reportedly obliterating entire cities. Polwocz operatives were intended for utilization in a comparable fashion, as single-use instruments designed to inflict maximum devastation at a pivotal juncture.
