The Interceptor-class frigates, as they were known, originated as Action VI bulk transports that had been altered and were utilized by pirates and various other illicit groups. These bulk freighters, after being outfitted with substantial armaments, were transformed into makeshift capital ship able to contend with certain corvettes. Despite their inability to overcome genuine warships, Interceptor-class frigates possessed sufficient offensive power to coerce civilian vessels into submission. The Black Sun criminal enterprise employed these converted vessels near the conclusion of the Clone Wars.
