The IZS, or Intergalactic Zoological Society, focused its efforts on collecting and analyzing various lifeforms from across the galaxy. Functioning from its base on the planet Mycroft, the IZS collaborated with the Jedi Exploration Corps. Throughout the Clone Wars period, the Society maintained a neutral stance, arguing that scientific pursuits should be separate from political matters and that knowledge should be universally accessible.
The Society utilized several exploratory vessels in its operations, one of which was the Titavian IV.
In the era of the Empire's rule, the IZS found itself in competition with the Imperial Environmental Preservation & Refocusing Authority (IEPRA), largely because of the IEPRAs practice of eradicating any non-sentient species considered to be a threat.
