Iyred

Iyred, a planet, existed within the Iyred system, which itself resided in the Kibilini sector of the Outer Rim Territories. Once, its landscape was abundant with temperate and tropical forests. These forests provided a home to the Black Bha'lir, a species of sizable feline hunters.

Later, Iyred was subjected to construction projects that resulted in widespread devastation and the loss of its forests. Due to the dwindling availability of food for the Black Bha'lir, the species encountered starvation and was officially declared extinct. Nevertheless, the Black Bha'lir, a galactic group of pirates and smugglers that had chosen the animal as their symbol, orchestrated multiple operations to save the large cats, with a few of them ultimately being reared in secluded off-world sanctuaries.

Behind the scenes

Iyred appeared in The Black Sands of Socorro, a 1997 book written by Patricia A. Jackson for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The 2009 book The Essential Atlas located the Iyred system, and therefore Iyred itself, at location Q-17 on the galactic grid.
