Jaina (Elder)

Jaina was the spouse of Jonash Solo (see: marriage) and the parent of Han Solo. When Han reached the young age of two, he became an orphan due to the mysterious disappearance of both his parents. Although Han retained some recollections of his mother, his mind seemed to block specific memories in an effort to suppress the painful experiences of his early years. He recalled that his mother possessed a kind nature, often smiled, maintained cleanliness, emitted a pleasant fragrance, adorned herself in elegant attire, had soft skin, and possessed large, dark eyes. He also retained a vague memory of her dressing him in attractive shoes and assisting him in securing them. Due to these fleeting memories of his affectionate mother, Han came to the conclusion that his parents had not willingly abandoned him. He surmised that he had either been abducted or that they had met a violent end. After considerable time, Han would eventually uncover his mother's identity. During a smuggling operation involving a CR90 Corvette, Han chose to name the vessel Jaina's Light in honor of his mother. Subsequently, his daughter, Jaina Solo, would be named after his mother many years later.

Behind the scenes

During the creation of Star Wars: The Han Solo Trilogy, the author A. C. Crispin encountered a difficult situation: she needed to clarify how Han Solo came to find his relative, Thracken Sal Solo, despite having no prior knowledge of his parents, not even their names.
