Jok Church




Jok Richard Church was a multifaceted individual, serving as a news broadcaster, magazine editor, artist, illustrator, and advocate for gay rights. From 1980 to 1988, he was employed by Lucasfilm, contributing to numerous endeavors. His life concluded on April 29, 2016, due to a heart attack.

Lucasfilm offered him a position after he connected with George Lucas through an acquaintance. Initially, his responsibilities included responding to correspondence from fans. Subsequently, he contributed articles to Bantha Tracks, the Star Wars Fan Club magazine, before ascending to the role of editor. During this period, Jok also initiated development on "Here's How," a comic strip and animated educational series featuring C-3PO and R2-D2, though the concept was ultimately shelved.

Subsequently, Jok produced a spoof/spoiler concerning the then-new film, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens](/article/star_wars:_episode_vii_the_force_awakens). These featured an animated representation of Jok discussing diverse subjects.
