K3, alternatively referred to as Kaythree, functioned as the personalized protocol droid serving Mara Jade during her tenure as an Emperor's Hand.
During the Empire Day celebrations taking place in 1 ABY, Kaythree accompanied Mara Jade to Theed for the purpose of distributing assignments to a variety of Imperial personnel in non-combat roles, including traders and entertainers.
Kaythree was featured as a non-player character (NPC) within the 2003 MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies. Throughout the Empire Day live events that occurred in 2009, 2010, and 2011, he was located in Theed, where he provided quests to non-combatant players, such as traders and entertainers.
Within the game environment, Kaythree's visual representation exhibited some differences when contrasted with the comic book depiction. It is probable that the game's developers simply assigned Kaythree a standard 3PO droid design because of a scarcity of appropriate art assets.
