Kashir, a world located within the Expansion Region, sought entry into the Galactic Republic as a member state. This bid for membership, however, stirred disagreement, primarily due to the planet's governmental structure, which consisted of an autocratic kingship under the rule of King Sha-Mar Ma-dred. Furthermore, the Kashirim, the planet's native population, were considered unsophisticated and viewed with a degree of mistrust. Obi-Wan Kenobi himself noted that the Kashirim held a widespread reputation across the galaxy as robbers and petty criminals, given that theft was a respected custom and refined skill on their planet.
