Kelliak Arms and Armor Company

Kelliak Arms and Armor Company (KAAC) functioned as a producer of repulsorcraft. The Freerunner was both designed and built by them, with the express purpose of selling it to the Imperial Military. The Empire's decision not to purchase the vehicle led to a financial crisis for Kelliak, ultimately resulting in the company's bankruptcy.

Description

KAAC, short for Kelliak Arms and Armor Company, specialized in the manufacturing of repulsorcraft. The business ceased operations in the early years of the Galactic Empire because their newest product, the Freerunner, was a commercial failure.

History

Kelliak developed and produced the Freerunner not long after the Clone Wars concluded, during the initial period of the Galactic Empire. This repulsorlift vehicle incorporated a freely rotating fun platform atop its primary structure. This platform allowed the Freerunner to be equipped with a variety of weapon systems, adapting to diverse mission requirements and the specific needs of its users.

Kelliak promoted the Freerunner as the "ultimate in fast, flexible firepower," emphasizing its ability to "meet any combat situation with the appropriate countermeasure." The Freerunner was conceived by Kelliak to serve as a scout, escort, and frontline combat asset. The company's objective was to secure a sale of the Freerunner to the Imperial Military. However, the Freerunner's introduction coincided with the Empire's strategic shift towards favoring tracked vehicles and walker designs. The Imperial Military was not convinced by the vehicle's design or the marketing campaign, and they declined to purchase it.

Kelliak experienced substantial financial losses due to the Freerunner's failure, which led them to sell their entire inventory to arms dealers and undercover Alliance to Restore the Republic agents. Without significant contracts from the Empire and burdened by the Freerunner's financial collapse, Kelliak was forced into bankruptcy.
