Kevdan Aerosystems, a manufacturer of hydro-glycolic fuel cells, supplied the R2-series astromech droid R2-D2 with their hydro-glycolic fuel cells.
The reference book Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary, New Edition, released in 2019, marked the initial mention of Kevdan Aerosystems within the new Star Wars canon. The name's genesis can be traced back to the Star Wars Legends continuity, where special effects artist Don Bies originally conceived it for the 2006 reference book Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary. Bies devised the name as an homage to Kevin Vincent, an R2-D2 operator at Walt Disney World, and Daniel Deutsch, the provider of R2 units and various other robots to Disney theme parks.
