Kiel Charny, a male Human, held the rank of Jedi General within the Galactic Republic during the era of the New Sith Wars. His life was ended by Darovit, a Jedi initiate who then chose to join the Brotherhood of Darkness.
Charny served as the Padawan of Master Handa. He became romantically involved with Githany, another of Handa's students, who was only a year younger. Handa disapproved of their relationship, and reprimanded them severely, which contributed to Githany's eventual betrayal of the Jedi and her alliance with the Brotherhood of Darkness. After General Valenthyne Farfalla forewarned him about Githany's choice to defect, saving his life in the process, Charny chose not to follow her path.
Upon completing his training, Kiel Charny rose to become a well-regarded general within the Army of Light during the battles on Ruusan. During the Sixth Battle of Ruusan, Charny and his Jedi forces were attacked by the Brotherhood, under the leadership of Lord Kaan and Githany. After shooting down the swoop bike she was piloting, he engaged Githany in a duel. Because he hesitated to fully fight his former lover, she was able to sever the hand that held his weapon. Seeing this hesitation as a weakness, Jedi Initiate Darovit seized Charny's dropped lightsaber and decapitated him. Subsequently, the boy joined the Sith as Githany's apprentice. In remembrance of his death, the planet Charny located within the Ruusan system was named in his honor.
