Subsequent to the Battle of Endor, the New Republic took control of the Kintoni garrison, a military outpost that was previously controlled by the Empire. This outpost was located on the remote planet called Kintoni. Despite Kintoni's isolated location, the garrison possessed a communications/sensor center with long-range capabilities.
